Meier announces candidacy for 34th Assembly District
According to the release, a major priority for Meier is economic development and job creation that is compatible with the 34th Assembly District's thriving tourism economy. "To support and grow our tourism industry, we need a Marshall Plan for robust, reliable, reasonably-priced broad-band, high-speed internet," he said.
A Wisconsin native and 25-year resident of Vilas County, Meier is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was a classroom teacher in the Phelps School District for 16 years and is an Adjunct Instructor at Nicolet Technical College in Rhinelander. Meier also holds certification from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a Substance Abuse Counselor.
He has extensive experience working with individuals and families struggling with addiction and substance abuse, the release states.
"Substance abuse is everybody's business in the 34th Assembly District. No one is immune from the effects of this public health epidemic," he said.
Meier is a United States Army veteran. He and his wife, Cheryl, are the parents of three sons, all in their 20s.
"We're excited about rolling up our sleeves and getting to work to help build a more healthy and prosperous future for all our families and communities in the 34th Assembly District!" he said.
