Eagle River Blue and Rhinelander played to a 10-all tie in a game that was called after six innings after running up against the league's mandated two-hour time limit.
The lead changed hands three times over the final 3 1/2 innings and became tied on three other occasions, including when Mason Davis hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth that pushed across the final run and salvaged the draw for the Hodags.
Rhinelander had a chance to win it in the sixth after a pair of two-out walks loaded the bases, but Eagle River struck out Aiden Walker-Jewell to end the game.
Down 4-0 after a half inning, Rhinelander battled back to take a 9-5 lead in the fourth only to watch Eagle River score five times in its final two at-bats.
The Blues did it with the aid of only two hits as five Rhinelander pitchers combined to walk 15 batters.
The game started inauspiciously enough for Rhinelander, with three walks and an error allowing the first four Eagle River batters to reach. They would all eventually come around to score.
Rhinelander got a run back in the second as Kolby Ridderbusch got aboard on an infield hit and eventually came around on a throwing error after Davis singled and stole second.
The Hodags tied it in the third as Davis grounded in Cal Laggis from third and reached on a fielding error. Sam Schneider added a sacrifice fly and Logan Schmoeger hit an RBI double.
After Eagle River got a run back in the top of the fourth, the Hodags took a seemingly commanding lead with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Caleb Olcikas gave Rhinelander the lead with a bases-loaded two-run double. Laggis and Ryan Jamison followed with RBI singles and Schneider added a sacrifice fly.
Eagle River tied it in the top of the fifth as the first four batters of the inning walked and all eventually came around to score. The Blues took the lead in the top of the sixth, scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
Jamison started the tying rally for the Hodags in the bottom of the sixth with a single down the third-base line. He stole second and third and came around on Davis' deep fly out to left.
Jamison went 3-for-4 on the night with an RBI, leading a Rhinelander offense that collected nine hits in the contest. Laggis, Ridderbusch, Davis, Schmoeger, AJ Turek and Olcikas had one hit each. Davis, Schneider and Olcikas each finished with two RBIs. Olcikas had the longest stint on the mound for Rhinelander, allowing an unearned run on two hits over three innings with three walks and a strikeout.
Elsewhere in Babe Ruth play, Rhinelander Green of the Senior League took on Tomahawk on Tuesday. The final score of that game was not reported prior to deadline. Laser Pros was scheduled to play at Tomahawk Wednesday evening.
Rhinelander Prep and Rhinelander Green both play at home Thursday with the first pitch of the doubleheader slated for 5 p.m.
