The group recently announced it has completed a number of fundraising projects including a trip giveaway and a raffle with a grand prize of an Oaxacan Hodag. The group also announced it has received a check in the amount of $912 from Brown Street 151 as part of an additional donation to add to the total raised at the recent Spring Fling fundraiser.
The RASF board of directors works throughout the year to raise money to support scholarship awards to our youth, according to a press release announcing the fundraisers. Established in 1991, the RASF is a non-profit charitable organization with a volunteer board. The group raises money for and distribute scholarships to Rhinelander graduates who plan to further their education beyond the high school level, many of whom may not receive scholarship support from other sources.
Karen Plong of Menominee, Mich, was the winner of the getaway, a week's stay at Orange Lake Resort in Orlando, Florida.
She and her family reported they "had a GREAT time!" on their trip, the release states.
Mary Wright of Rhinelander won the Oaxacan Hodag sculpture, and a cage created in the RHS Fab Lab. Finally, the RASP received a check in the amount of $912 from Brown Street 151 as part of an additional donation to add to the total raised at the Spring Fling fundraiser held in March.
RASF Vice President Tracey Barnes received the donation from front-of-house manager Natalie Marquardt and the rest of the Brown Street 151 staff.
This donation brought the total amount raised to nearly $3,000, the release states. The restaurant had agreed to donate 50 percent of its bar sales all evening, as well as a portion of meal sales from 4 to 5 p.m. and 8 to 9 p.m. Following the event, they generously decided to increase this amount.
RASF board members and representatives from other local organizations were also on hand to act as surprise bartenders and promote the foundation.
