At about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oneida County Dispatch received a report of a vehicle versus tree accident on County Highway W near Isle View Road. According to an Oneida County sheriff's deputy on scene, the 17-year-old driver said he was heading southbound when he felt a "bump" and the rear brakes locked up. The vehicle continued through a curve then crossed over into the northbound lane before striking a tree and coming to rest on a telephone cable box. A 17-year-old passenger in the vehicle reportedly struck the windshield with his head. He was transported to the hospital by private vehicle while the driver was transported via ambulance. When the vehicle was raised by the tow truck, the deputy said the rear wheels did appear to be locked. However, he did not rule out the possibility of issuing citations after the investigation is complete. In addition to the sheriff's department and county ambulance, the Pine Lake Fire Department responded to the scene.
