Shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Oneida County Dispatch Center received a report of a single vehicle rollover accident on State Highway 17 North. According to an Oneida County sheriff's deputy on the scene, the driver of a northbound SUV was suddenly faced with a southbound vehicle in his lane passing another southbound vehicle in a no passing zone. The driver of the SUV swerved to avoid a head-on collision and entered the ditch, traveling about 25 feet before the vehicle struck a driveway and flipped onto its roof, narrowly avoiding a tree. It then slid across the driveway on its roof before coming to a rest in the ditch on the opposite side of the driveway. The driver of the northbound vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The driver of the southbound vehicle left the scene. The deputy said the vehicle is registered to a person from Eagle River, and if the driver can be identified they will face numerous citations. In addition to the sheriff's department, Pine Lake Fire and an Oneida County ambulance responded to the scene.
