Library seeks volunteers to store books during renovation project
Director Erica Brewster invites the public to participate in the building renovation. "We know a lot of people are interested in lending a helping hand while the library is updated for the 21st Century," Brewster said in a press release. "One way they can get involved is to take home some of our books for the construction period, keep them safe, and bring them back to us when we are ready to move in."
During the renovation, space will be limited in the Demmer Library's temporary location and volunteers are needed to foster the collection that cannot be stored in the temporary library. Items available for fostering are limited to physical books; DVDs and books on CD will not be available for fostering. The renovation is expected to last from late March through December, 2018.
"A large, sturdy, sealable plastic tote will be required to store books to avoid water damage," the release states. "Fostering up to 100 books may require more than one plastic tote. While in your care, these books will be available to you, but may not be loaned to anyone outside your home. You may choose the books you foster yourself, allowing you to have old favorites or new stories you've never explored! Once construction is completed, volunteers will be contacted to arrange the return of their foster collection."
