Karl's Transport unveils latest 'dedication trailer'
By By the Antigo Daily Journal-
Last Friday, the company unveiled its latest "dedication trailer," a 53-foot long salute to law enforcement at all levels.
On hand for the ceremony were John Kondzela, a retired sergeant with the Langlade County Sheriff's Department who now drives for Karl's, along with his daughter, Sgt. Christie Kondzela of the Rhinelander Police Department.
Kondzela will be the first driver to take the new trailer on the road, although the actual date it will be put into service and its first trip have yet to be determined.
"I'm proud to drive it," he said.
Also present were Stacy Kegley and Rhonda Hapke of South Side Design & Graphics, which designs and installs all the graphics on Karl's big rigs, and representatives from the Antigo Police and Langlade County Sheriff's Department, including Don Bergbower, jail administrator/communications administrator and part-time deputy; Ted Skarlupka, corrections officer; Chris Walter, deputy sheriff; Anita Burkhart, 911 dispatcher; Sgt. Kevin Ison of the Langlade County Sheriff's Department; Jordan Sorano, deputy sheriff; Josh Kraft, deputy sheriff; Nate Zirngible, Antigo police officer; and Dan Duley, detective/sergeant with the Antigo Police Department.
The striking design includes a trailer-length black and white flag with one blue stripe along with a law enforcement badge with a colored graphic of fallen officer's casket, covered in a flag and the words "Enough is Enough."
"Karl's Transport Backs The Blue" completes the design.
Karl's trucks travel throughout the United States so the trailer could be on the East Coast one week and in the Southwest the next. And when it's not on the Interstate, it will be very visible at truck stops.
South Side Design & Graphics have produced several dedication trailers for Karl's, creating traveling billboards and tributes seeking information about missing Kayla Berg, focusing on suicide prevention, and honoring fallen soldiers including John Mattek and Ryan Jopek.
