After a competitive season in the Northwoods River News Pigskin Pick'em board, the River News' very own sports editor, Jeremy Mayo, won the championship.

Mayo defeated John Stein of Stein's Lincoln St. Liquor by correctly picking Philadelphia to win Sunday's big game. It was Mayo's third Pigskin Pick'em title in seven years as the River News' representative on the 10-member panel. As the champion, Mayo presented a $500 check on Tuesday to the charity of his choosing, the Rhinelander Athletic Booster Club (ABC).

"The ABC does so much behind the scenes to support Rhinelander athletics, from buying jerseys and equipment to backing capital projects for scoreboards and facilities," said Mayo, a former member of the ABC board of directors. "It's an honor to present the ABC with this donation and to give back to the sports community I enjoy covering."

ABC president Brandon Karaba accepted the check on the Booster Club's behalf.

"The Athletic Booster Club can't thank Jeremy Mayo enough," Karaba said. "When you have the backing of the best sports analyst around you know you're doing something right as a group. Good luck to all that go against him, he's the best. And I hope he continues to pick the ABC again next year!"
