NCES students send holiday greetings around the world
Both classes were teamed up with 29 other classrooms from around the world, the release explains. After the students created the holiday cards, they were sent to specific classrooms. Some cards were sent to Texas, South Carolina, California, Pennsylvania, Ontario and British Columbia. Inside each card, the students shared interesting information about NCES. The first graders shared that it is common to see wild turkeys and whitetail deer in their school's backyard. The fifth graders shared that their classroom is special because they have a class dog and they are learning like pirates.
In turn, the first and fifth graders received holiday cards from all over the world.
"It was interesting to learn about the other schools that participated in the holiday card project," the release states. "When the classrooms received a card from a participating school, they found the location of that school on a world map."
The holiday card project is sponsored by Jennifer Wagner. Ms. Wagner has been hosting the project since 2007. This year 1,000 classrooms participated in the project.
