Girls' swim team win fall strength training challenge
The program was put together by RHS strength coaches Tyler Figueroa and Jim Moore, along with RHS assistant football coach Mike Roberts.
"Between Mike and Tyler and I, we thought let's start recognizing the team that does the best with their training, because we believe with our hearts and souls that the key to having success on the field, in the gym or in the pool, whatever it is, starts right here (in the weight room)," Moore said.
Attendance was a primary criterion for the award, based on the percentage of the team that showed up. Other factors included a positive attitude in the weight room and team communication with the strength coaches.
"They had great attendance, they were on time and they did an extra lift. Not all of teams had a lot of time to do two lifts. They were coming in and doing a third lift. They did a great job with communication," Moore said. "They were easily the winner. They just did a great job with all the stuff."
The team is pictured in the weight room with their championship shirts.
Moore said a similar season-long team lifting competition will be held during the winter and spring sports seasons.
