As the Great Northern Legion Conference's first undefeated champion, the Rhinelander Post 7 Rebels figured to factor prominently in the league's postseason awards.

That proved to be the case as the league announced its all-conference team on Wednesday. In total eight players earned recognition from the conference, including five first-team selections.

Jacob DeMeyer made the first-team as a pitcher. He was joined on the squad by infielder Brad Comer, outfielders Abe Laggis and Brad Quade, and Martin Hoger as a catcher.

DeMeyer was also named to the league's second team as an outfielder. He joined Rhinelander pitcher Bryce Schickert, and infielders Josh Randolph and Easton Senoraske on the second team.

DeMeyer finished third among eligible pitchers in the GNLC with a 2.47 ERA in conference play this summer. He went 2-0 in league play with 19 strikeouts in 17 innings of work. Additionally, DeMeyer was sixth in the league in batting average (.441), sixth in slugging percentage (.647) and tied for second in RBIs (11).

Like DeMeyer, Comer had 11 RBIs in nine GNLC contests. The Rebels had a forfeit win over Chequamegon July 9 that did not factor into the statistics. Comer was tops in the league with an .852 slugging percentage, and finished second in both batting average (.556) and on base percentage (.613).

Laggis lead the league in both of those categories, batting .706 and getting on base at a .722 clip. Overall, Laggis was 12 of 17 at the plate with a double, six RBIs, 10 runs scored and three stolen bases while playing in six conference games.

Quade was fourth in the league with a .474 average. He had nine RBIs in league play and was third in the league with a .583 on base percentage. Hoger hit .296 in league play, but had one of only five home runs hit in the conference this summer, and tied for eighth in the GNLC with eight RBIs.

Randolph hit .471 in league play, Senoraske was .375 while playing the majority of his time at third base.

Schickert did not allow an earned run over 11 innings in conference play, while striking out 13 batters. Had Schickert pitched one-third more of an inning in conference play, he would have lead the conference in ERA (0.00) and WHIP (0.64), and placed third in strikeout to walk ratio (4.33).

Voting was done by conference coaches and managers, with each team getting one ballot. The top two pitchers, four infielders, three outfielders, catcher and utility player in the vote total earned first-team honors. The next two pitchers, four infielders, three outfielder, catcher and utility player received second-team honors. Players who received at least two votes were eligible to receive honorable mention.

Comer was one of only three unanimous first-team selections, joining Medford pitcher Cade Alexander and Northwoods utility player Brad Sowinski. Alexander made the first team as both a pitcher and an infielder for Medford. Tomahawk's Nick Kahle and Jakob Kahle, and Mosinee's Trey Fitzgerald, rounded out the first team.

Rhinelander went 10-0 in GNLC play as it won its third straight conference title. The Rebels finished 17-3 overall this season, but finished in fourth place in a Class AA regional tournament it hosted last month, losing to both Antigo and Northwoods in a double-elimination tournament.
