The Rhinelander Swim Club had 16 athletes participate in the 2018 Midwest Regional Swim Meet earlier this month at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. To be eligible to compete in this meet, the swimmers had to have qualifying times in each of their events.

"It was great to see so many Rhinelander swimmers qualify and attend this regional meet," said Jenny Heck, who was coaching on the pool deck with her husband, Ken, for the event. "It is fun to swim at a Big Ten swimming complex and it also provides invaluable experience participating against athletes from many different states and teams. Rhinelander swimmers are realizing that they not only are qualifying for meets such as this but are also placing, many in the top four, eight or 16."

Six RSC records were broken at the meet. Jack Antonuk set new club marks in the 200-yard breasrstroke (2:27.78) 200 butterfly (2:12.75) and 400 IM (4:41.44). Samson Shinners set a new record in the 200 IM (2:57.02), Makenna Winnicki set a new record in the 400 IM and Abi Winnicki set a new record in the 50 breaststroke (34.16).
