Northwoods residents and visitors have an opportunity to Tuesday evening to enjoy a night out and help the community at the same time.

Eight Rhinelander area restaurants will host Dine for a Difference April 10 in support the Rhinelander Community Foundation. These businesses are donating a percentage of each dining or dining/drink purchase made during specified hours to the foundation.

Participating restaurants include The Al- Gen Supper Club, Brown Street 151, CT's Deli, Culver's, Historic Davenport House, Hodag Steakhouse, Rhinelander Steakhouse and Pub, and Rocky's Roadhouse.

From 4 to 8 p.m. diners will choose their favorite participating location and enjoy an evening out, event organizers said in a press release. A percentage of their bill will be donated to the Rhinelander Community Foundation.

Rhinelander Community Foundation president Gina Heck said the idea is to offer people an opportunity to donate to the foundation's endowment in a relatively easy way.

"It's a night out where you go out to eat and part of the bill is donated to the foundation," she said.

The Rhinelander Community Foundation awards grants for projects and programs meant to impact the Rhinelander area in a positive way. Most recently RCF awarded a $25,000 grant to the city of Rhinelander for improvements to bathrooms at Hodag Park.

With eight restaurants participating, diners have a lot of culinary experiences to choose from.

"It's really a wide range of selections for dining," Heck said. "We feel it will appeal to people who want to go out that evening and enjoy a night out. It's something the whole community can rally around yet it's kind of an easy, low maintenance activity to do."

A prize raffle, which will consist of gift certificates to the participating restaurants, is also planned.

The Rhinelander Community Foundation was established as a way for people to donate money to one group that would then use the funds to award grants to support positive projects that enhance the quality of life in the Rhinelander community now and for future generations.
