On Thursday, Aug. 31, Northwoods Innovation hosted an "Eggs for Educators" event at Three Lakes High School. The group, which consists of 12 manufacturing businesses from the Northwoods, organized the breakfast as an opportunity to discuss the ugent need for skilled workers across the region. By partnering with local school districts such as Three Lakes, Northwoods Innovation hopes to begin a dialogue about training, internships, job shadowing, skilled trade and employment in the Northwoods, according to a press release announcing the event.

This event was the first of its kind for the group, which was formed about a year and a half ago. Each member business had a representative in attendance at the event. Following the breakfast, Eric Schoeneck of Superior Diesel kicked off the presentation with an explanation of the group's goals and an introduction to each member business. The business representatives talked about the types of jobs available at their locations and which skills are necessary for employment. High school teachers and staff were then given an opportunity to ask questions and network with the employers.

"Today's breakfast was a wonderful opportunity to bring educators and employers together in conver- sation," said Dr. Steve Yahr, Three Lakes Fab Lab Director. "We began a discussion on ways to help our students develop an appreciation of opportunities in the Northwoods and to develop the skills to take those businesses to the next level."

Participating Northwoods Innovation members included: Daigle Brothers, Doctors Foster and Smith, Nimsgern Steel Corp., Pioneer Equipment, Ponsse, Printpack, Red Arrow and Superior Diesel. Associate member Spectrum Insurance Group and affiliate member Nicolet College were also at the breakfast.
