A one-day seminar, "Navigating through the Journey of Dementia with Amanda Bulgarelli" will take place on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bell Tower Residence Assisted Living, 1500 O'Day Street in Merrill.

The keynote speaker will be Amanda Bulgarelli of Clawson, Mich.

Bulgarelli will address a variety of common concerns and issues from the earliest stages of cognitive changes until the end of life's journey due to complications of brain failure, organizers said in a press release.

Along this journey, attendees will learn the difference between normal aging versus not-normal changes, along with an emphasis on discriminating among the various dementias.

This session will also address how to get the right support system in place while determining the proper resources and environment where care can be best delivered.

Bulgarelli will highlight indicators that the memory loss condition has progressed, resulting in the need for new or different supports and care strategies or programs.

Finally, she will share some of the techniques that emphasize positive ways to connect with, interact with and provide the best care possible for your loved one.

The seminar is open to the public and Continuing Education Units are available for professionals.

Cost is $10 and includes lunch. Seating is limited. Please register by calling 715-536-5575.
