CT's Deli in downtown Rhinelander was packed Friday evening as well-wishers came out in droves to support a young mother with cancer.

The restaurant hosted a benefit for Amy Frasier Wallace, a 39-year-old mother of three young children who is battling stage four breast cancer.

Patti Ory, family friend and co-organizer of the benefit, was amazed with the turnout.

"We're thrilled with the turnout, people have been coming out, donating, the generosity is unbelieveable," she said.

Wallace could not attend the event but many friends in attendance conveyed her gratitude.

"The whole Frasier family is so overwhelmed with this and so full of gratitude for the community," said Debbie Bruso, a close family friend.

Nancy Frasier, Wallace's mother and co-owner of Frasier Kitchens in Rhinelander, was deeply touched to learn that so many people want to help her daughter.

"I am absolutely overwhelmed," she said. "I can't believe the love and support. They say that it takes a village to raise a child. Well, I'm not from Rhinelander, Rhinelander did not raise me, but they raised me every single moment with this love and support."

"It humbles Amy to tears to have this love and support," Frasier added, noting that she saw some of Wallace's teachers, babysitter and others in the crowd.

"Everybody feels this pain because we're not the only ones going through it, everybody has issues every day and I think because of that they're just opening their hearts to help someone else in pain," she added.

"I would just like to say 'thank you' to this wonderful community for your love and support, it's just a privilege to live in a community with such loving people."

"As far as I'm concerned this is the best community on the face of the earth right now, we feel so blessed and so wonderful that everyone is supporting us like this," added her husband, Larry Frasier.

Moira King went to school with Wallace and competed with her on the swim team. As someone with family affected by cancer, King understands what it's like and was happy to support Wallace and the Frasiers.

"We're pulling for them, we have family members who have cancer as well and we know the struggles and they are in our thoughts and prayers," she said.

Pat LaPorte, another attendee, has known Larry and Nancy for 40 years. They have worked on many home-improvement jobs together, she said.

"I think the turnout is awesome," she said. "It just is such a great support from the community to have this many people come to help them. I don't personally know Amy ... I'm just very, very pleased that the people in the community have come out to support them in this hard time."

A number of prizes were raffled off during the event and CT's donated 15 percent of its bar sales from the event to the Wallace family.
