The Three Lakes Shootout is an annual fundraising event that brings racing boats from as far away as Florida, Texas, Canada and New York to race against a radar gun for trophies in one of the 12 classes and the two "Top Gun" trophies for fastest times down a marked course on Big Stone Lake. The event is held annually the weekend before the Fourth of July and attracts nearly 100 racing boats. Top speed to date from a standing start in 1,000 feet was 162 MPH. Pictured are organizers of the Three Lakes Shootout providing a $2,000 donation check to the Rhinelander Post #724 of AMVETS, the oldest, national veterans organization chartered by President Truman in 1947. The funds raised by AMVETS are used to assist veterans and other veterans organizations. Wisconsin alone has 50 active AMVETS posts.Pictured is the leadership team of the Three Lakes Shootout, now in its 10th year.
