Harry lived most of his life in Rockford, where he attended the Rockford School of Business and began his career as a real estate agent. He was employed with various agencies and eventually owned his own real estate office. Later, he moved to Central Florida where he continued his real estate profession until he retired in 1994.
Surviving are his children: Michelle (Patrick) O'Connell of Wheaton, Illinois, and Michael (Doris) Meurer of Byron, Illinois; three granddaughters, Abigail O'Connell of Muncie, Indiana, and Samantha and Lindsey Meurer, both of Byron, Illinois; and by one brother, William (Joan) Meurer of Rhinelander. Also surviving is his niece, Colleen (Don) Herman of Rhinelander; and nephews Bill Meurer, Thomas Meurer and Bob Meurer of Rhinelander. Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harry Sr., Isabelle and Louis Meurer; and by his beloved nephew Louis Meurer.
The visitation for Harry will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (St. Joseph site), located at 1360 N. Stevens Street, Rhinelander from 10 a.m. until the 1 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Randy Knauf will be officiating.
Immediately following the mass, all are invited to attend the committal service, which will be held in the chapel at Northland Memorial Park. Military honors conducted by the Ray Rousseau V.F.W. Post 3143 and two representatives from the United States Navy will follow the committal service.
