The night consisted of a barbecue dinner, raffles and auctions. The RIA stated on its Facebook page that the event raised more than $8,000 with proceeds going back to the organization.
Two special presentations were made.
Pictured at top, Holiday Acres owner Kari Zambon presents Rhinelander Ice Arena manager Brett Aylesworth with a check for $2,643. Holiday Acres donated a portion of revenue generated by hosting visiting hockey teams during youth and high school tournaments back to the RIA.
Pictured at bottom, Jim Buttney, a longtime hockey referee and owner of Northwoods Delivery Inc., draws a name out of a bag held by co-master of ceremonies Holly Rose. The Buttney family established two scholarships this year that will cover registration costs for one male and one female youth hockey player enrolled in the RIA.
Hockey and figure skating practices began earlier this week and the first youth hockey games of the year will be held next Saturday.
