Crooner Todd Murray coming to Lakeland Union High School
Murray's performance follows a loose storyline of how the microphone influenced singing and how singing has evolved as time has passed.
This fun program includes crooners from Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra to today's pop vocalists, according to an LPAA press release.
Murray and his backup pianist and bassist will take the stage at the Lakeland Union High School theatre, 9753 State Hwy.70 West in Minocqua, on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
"Todd Murray, the new leading man of cabaret, has all the needed ingredients: a throaty and mellow baritone voice, perfect diction, and great timing," the release states. "Matinee-idol looks don't hurt either, but it's his material that brings back the floating, relaxed memories of the big-band era. Murray's show, CROON, traces the history of crooning - defined as singing intimately with a microphone. Given that singing intimately is what Todd does best, he excels in virtually every number."
Murray has performed at New York's Town Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the first national tour of "The Secret Garden" and many engagements at Feinstein's At the Regency. He can be heard singing in "Showgirls: Glitz and Angst," in the HBO Series "American Undercover" as well as several feature movies.
He has been nominated for numerous awards for his vocals, CDs and song writing.
