Date confusion leads to one more Hodag Farmers Market in 2017
By By Cassie Shefcik-
Last Saturday was supposed to be the final market at Pioneer Park for the year. All the market members were sure it was to be the last market. Even the website listed Oct. 14. No one thought anything of it and it sounded just about right.
Or so we thought. One of the secretaries on the market board contemplated this date, went back and reviewed the notes from a meeting earlier in the year. Thank goodness she did! The notes from the meeting listed Oct. 21 as the last market.
So we're baaaack!
Last weekend was rather cold. Heavy jackets and gloves were needed to aid in the struggle of keeping warm. I know of two vendors that had hand warmers in their shoes to keep their feet warm.
This weekend promises to be much warmer than last weekend, making it a perfect ending for the market in the park. Last week a vendor brought down a huge trailer filled with pumpkins! Another vendor not only had beautiful pumpkins but also fall-themed wreaths and table toppers. Squash, apples, canned goods, fresh potatoes, onions, Brussel sprouts (on the stalk), corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, sprouts (like for salads), and many other items will still be available on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Pioneer Park.
If you missed last week's Faux Last Market of the year you have yet another chance to be at the last market of this year.
