The five riders who competed under the Rhinelander High School banner helped the Hodags to a ninth-place finish in the Division 2 standings on Sunday.
Alexis Pyrchalla and teammate Emma Hjelle finished ninth and 10th, respectively, in the junior varsity girls' race. Pyrchalla completed a three-lap race in a time of 1 hour, 39 minutes, 2.79 seconds. Hjelle finished roughly three minutes later at 1:42:05.85.
Freddy Wisner was 25th for the Hodags in the boys' junior varsity Division 2 race with a time of 1:24:46.93. Twin siblings Hunter and Garrett Bachmann finished 41st (1:35:47.31) and 45th (1:41:34.95), respectively.
Lakeland's Johanna Craig, racing under the Rhinelander Northwoods Composite banner, won her second race of 2017 in the sophomore girls' division, completing a two-lap course in 55:46.37. She holds the overall points lead in the class through three of five events. Her younger brother, Jakob, won the eighth-grade boys' race Sunday (27:25.96).
Megan Lester and Sage Flory finished second (31:57.16) and third (33:56.50) for the Hodags in the eighth-grade girls' division. Joey Belanger was 11th in the sixth-grade boys' class (36:41.79) and Gavin Denis placed 26th in the sixth-grade boys' class (44:38.84).
The fourth race of the WHSCL season takes place this Sunday at the Double OO Trailhead near Hayward.
