The Rhinelander Railroad Association will host its annual Christmas Open House Dec. 2 and 3 at the Train Depot Museum which is part of the Pioneer Park Historical Complex.

The open house will run from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 3.

There will be hot chocolate, cider, coffee, cheese tray with sausage, and cookies, organizers say.

Children can enjoy free rides on the Soo Line Speeder, which will travel down a 200-foot track.

People can see all the trains, the items in the museum and tour the back room.

Thomas the Train will be there which is usually a real treat for the children, organizers say.

The Christmas train will be on display along with the big display. There will be actual Thunder Lake railroad lumber cars on display, along with the Chicago Northwestern and the Soo Line.

"The actual train layout consists of approximately 200 miles of track if it were in real-life scale, and features downtown Rhinelander between 1939 and 1950, and it features the original paper mill, Thunder Lake Lumber Company," said Tom Theilig, president of the Rhinelander Railroad Association.
