Salvation Army bell ringing to begin
Bell ringers will start shifts at Walmart on Friday, Nov. 24.
Organizers are always looking for more volunteers to ring bells.
"You can select a shift for Trig's and Walmart on our new website at SArhinelander.org," campaign organizers said in a press release. "This is a new system, and will require everyone who may have rang in the past to create a new login. To ring at Shopko, call coordinator Jan Leschke at 715-362-7157. Our shifts at Trig's and Walmart are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each shift is 90 minutes. While it may be chilly outside, you will be warmed by the generosity of our community!"
This year's goal is to raise $40,000.
How donations are used
For every $1 donated, $0.86 stays right here in Rhinelander. The remaining $0.14 is used for state and national emergency relief efforts, according to the release.
The Rhinelander Salvation Army serves area residents by providing emergency assistance with housing, transportation and medical needs. Housing services include temporary shelter, and emergency utility and rent assistance. Transportation assistance includes gas cards or assistance with repairs. Medical assistance frequently includes help with life-saving prescription medications.
Rhinelander ACES (Area Churches for Emergency Services) manages the donations.
ACES includes Calvary Baptist, First Congregational UCC, First United Methodist, Grace Foursquare, Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nativity of Our Lord, North Country Vineyard Church and Trinity Lutheran.
For those who are unable to ring bells, monetary donations are accepted.
