BMO Harris Bank celebrates 200th anniversary
Customers asked to make wishes, some will be granted
"Two hundred years is a big deal for any organization," Patrick Oherlihy, spokesperson for BMO Harris Bank said. "It's two full centuries of being in business and we wanted to celebrate by saying thank you to our customers and the communities we serve. So we came up with a fun and innovative way to do it, which is to ask not only our customers but people everywhere to make wishes."
The company has set up an interactive website, a virtual water fountain, which allows individuals to toss a coin and make a wish. The wishes can be related to community, education, the environment or several other categories.
The website can be found at www.bmo200.com and it is accessible through mobile devices.
"You can go to the website, put in a wish and we're going to be granting some of them," Oherlihy said.
Earlier this year, a mother in Novia Scotia wished a Lego City could be built at the hospital where her son receives treatment for several heart defects.
BMO Harris Bank made it happen.
In fact, they took it one step further and had the children at the hospital draw their own houses and incorporated the structures into the city.
Nearly 12,000 wishes have been made so far and the site will remain open for the remainder of the year.
Woodruff branch joins the fun
Closer to home, the Woodruff branch is encouraging individuals to join the celebration. The staff at BMO Harris Bank is ready to assist those who want to make a wish but need a little help along the way.
"We're here to help everyone," branch manager Maureen Anderson said. "In fact, that's our motto. We're here to help."
Anderson stressed the staff's eagerness to assist the public, not just with making a wish or even banking needs but with community affairs as well.
"Just reiterating how much we're all involved in the community," Anderson said. "We all live and work in the community, right in this area. We're supportive of Girls on the Run, the Rump Roast Run, we raise donations for Lakeland Pantry and just a bunch of different things the staff are involved in."
Anderson said the biggest facet to remember about the Woodruff branch is the team's commitment to customer service.
"We continually work on our customer experience to make it the best experience we possibly can," Anderson said. "That's been our strong focus this year."
