The class is set to run on Tuesdays from March 21 - April 11 (4 meetings) in the Rhinelander High School Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., according to a district press release. The instructor will be certified health and wellness coach and registered dietitian Paula Sweney-Wagler.
"Are you tired of relying on diets and willpower to determine what foods you can or cannot eat? Do you just want to enjoy eating again? Learn to let go of judgmental attitudes attached to eating, manage food cravings and impulses, and tune in to your internal hunger and fullness cues," the release states. "Recognize situations that drive distracted or stressful eating, and develop a plan for self-care practices without food rewards. This non-diet approach to food can help you create a better balance between eating for enjoyment, and eating for health. Several practical tips and experiments to eat mindfully will be explored, and chocolate will be provided for a mindfully savoring taste experiment. This class is designed to provide insight into eating mindfully and is not intended to be a substitute for therapy."
Ages 18 and over are welcome to attend. Ages 13-17 are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult.
The fee is $16/person. The course number is 2017-06.
