Hodag dance team scores runner-up finishes at nationals
The Hodags, a Division 2 team, competed against three Division 1 teams, falling to Sun Prairie by only 2.73 points.
On Saturday the team competed in the High School Jazz Division and also placed second.
At the Saturday evening gala RHS head coach Tricia Winter was recognized as DX Top 5 Coach of the Year. Lisa Saline, Founder & President of DX, stated that a dance parent nominated Winter and her nomination made a huge impact on their panel, as this parent no longer has a child in the dance program. Hundreds of coaches attend DX and almost 40 coaches were nominated.
Hodag co-captain Delanie Stafford was recognized with a Distinguished Leader Award and the team was recognized with the Academic Excellence Award.
"The Dance Team would like to thank the (several individuals, businesses and organizations in the community) for their support in making it possible for them to compete at this national competition," the team stated in press release.
Those helping the Hodags get to nationals include district superintendent Kelli Jacobi, RHS activities director Brian Paulson, RHS principal David Ditzler and the school board.
