It's time to lace up your running shoes. The 11th annual Hodag Run for Your Life, set for June 24, will feature a new course this year.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. and will continue until 15 minutes before the race starts.

Half-marathon participants will take off down the pavement at 8 a.m., 10K at 8:45 a.m., 5K run/walk at 9:15 a.m. and Kids Chase the Hodag at 10:30 a.m.

The new route starts at Hodag Park, heads down W. Monico Street to Eagle Street, left to Lake Creek Road which turns into County Hwy. W. The halfway point for the 5K will be at the Jail House, where there will be a water and an aid station. The 5K runner will turn around and head to the finish line. Those running the 10K and half-marathon will continue down River Road. The 10Kers' turn around point will be just past Forest Lane. A water and aid station as well as restrooms will be available at the Pine Lake Fire Department.

Half-marathoners will continue down River Road and find another water and aid station and restrooms near Sun Valley Road. Another water and aid station will be located near Sun Prairie Road.

The half-marathoners will continue along River Road to Journeys End Road and then head back to Hodag Park.

"We hope to keep our great running numbers as we have in the past," said Stephanie Ruckheim, community development director at the YMCA of the Northwoods. "(This event) brings in runners and spectators from all over. We have great participation in all of the races so we hope to keep increasing these numbers as the proceeds go to a great cause that helps the local community."

Children can also participate in the running spirit as they chase the Hodag around Hodag Park.

"The Kids Chase the Hodag has an amazing turnout," Ruckheim said. "We give away 200 free T-shirts to the first 200 registered children and we run out every year."

Ruckheim is thankful for everyone's participation in the event and their support of the YMCA of the Northwoods.

"One draw for the event that I love is how participants know the proceeds go to a great cause," she said, adding that proceeds from the race allow the Y to continue to deliver low-cost programming to the local community.
