Immanuel, Trinity members prepare meal for firefighters

The meal, coordinated by Trinity's Board of Witness and Immanuel's Outreach & Social Ministry Committee, was served to the firefighters at the department.
"We wanted to say thank you to the firefighters for the work they do and for the dedication they have," said Pastor Tammy Barthels, from Immanuel.
Shortly after a blessing from Pastor Tammy, the group saw that dedication from the firefighters firsthand when, shortly after dishing up, a call came through and some of the firefighters had to rush out.
"They sacrifice a lot being firefighters," said Jeremiah Bellow, a youth member from Immanuel who helped serve the meal. "I think this is a great way for us to show how much they mean to the area."
Along with the main course of spaghetti and meatballs, also served were salads, bread, plenty of desserts and drinks.
Following the meal, the firefighters gave a tour of the fire department - and talked with some of the older youth in-depth about careers in the department.
"That makes me want to be a paramedic," said Kathryn Borski, from Immanuel. Borski also helped prepare and serve the meal.
The leftovers - and there were many - were delivered to the Frederick Place homeless shelter in Rhinelander for a Sunday evening meal.
