The Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the Oneida County Department on Aging held their annual recognition event last month. Volunteers were treated to a cruise down the Wisconsin River to Hat Rapids aboard the Wisconsin River Cruise Line.

"The cruise worked well with our theme for the event 'Volunteers You are our lifesavers! Without you we'd sink like an anchor!'" organizers said in a press release. "Over 100 volunteers from Oneida County went on the cruise. The group included volunteers from the Meals on Wheels program, Escort Drivers, Pine Lake Thrift and St. Joes Thrift, the Rhinelander Food Pantry, Hospice Quilters, the Rhinelander Senior Center activities program and nutrition sites and the Retired and Senior Volunteer crafters and sewers. The volunteers enjoyed a 21/2 hour cruise, sub sandwiches, pickles and chips, dessert which was donated by Trigs and entertainment donated by David Dall. A great time was had by all. Thank you to Patty Zastrow, owner of the Wisconsin River Cruise for a wonderful trip."
