New trustee joins the Nicolet College Board, two others reappointed
New to the board is John Johnson III from Rhinelander. Trustees reappointed to the board include Bob Martini, Rhinelander, and David Solin, Deerbrook.
Each was sworn in for a three-year term.
Johnson graduated from Nicolet's University Transfer Liberal Arts program in 2013 and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse where he earned a bachelor's of science degree in Political Science and Public Administration. He then attended UW-Oshkosh, earning a master's degree in Public Administration. He is currently pursuing a second master's degree, this one in Health Care Management.
Johnson served internships in the offices of Congressman Ron Kind, as well as Rhinelander Mayor Dick Johns. He is currently the secretary of the Oneida County Humane Society and serves on the board of two non-profit Christian ministries. He is also a graduate of the Oneida County Leadership Program.
Martini has served 21 years on the board and is currently in his seventh term as board chair. Retired from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Martini has a long history of serving in leadership positions in a wide variety of community organizations, focusing on natural resources, education, and economic development. This includes serving on the Oneida County Board of Supervisors, Nicolet College Foundation Board, Rhinelander School District Strategic Planning Committee, Northwoods Land Trust, and others.
Solin has served on the Langlade County Board since 2006 and is currently the board chairman. He is a retired logger and land manager of approximately 1,600 acres of family-owned land. He is currently farming, and raising cattle and hogs on the 100-year-old family farm. He also runs maple syrup and Christmas tree operations. He and his wife are the owner/operators of Lab Tech Services, LLC, a licensed testing lab for drinking water and wastewater.
The board also elected officers at the meeting. Martini was elected chair, Bob Egan, Eagle River, vice chair, Kim Baltus, Tomahawk, secretary, and Jennifer Vogler, Wabeno, treasurer.
Other trustees on the nine-member board include Sharon Nielsen, Eagle River, Linda Skallerud, Crandon, and Ron Zimmerman, Tomahawk.
