The Northwoods Babe Ruth League's 15-year-old All-Star team made a respectable showing at the state tournament, which started Saturday and wrapped up Tuesday in Green Bay.

Northwoods went 3-3 in the tournament, losing twice to eventual state champ Janesville. On Saturday, Northwoods defeated host Green Bay and lost to Janesville in pool play. The team then defeated Reedsburg and Bay Port Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the winner's bracket.

Northwoods lost to Janesville and Bay Port on Monday to be eliminated from the tournament. The 12-player squad included representation from all six programs that field teams in the Northwoods Babe Ruth League - Crandon, Eagle River, Lakeland, Merrill, Rhinelander and Tomahawk. The team posed for a photograph following Sunday's game against Reedsburg.

Pictured in the front row, from left to right, are Teagen Guckenberg, Brad Shepherd, Tim Crisco, Ty Bailey, Jake Bailey, Nick Kahle and coach Todd Johnson. In the back row are coach Ken Zuiker, Isaac Lung, Tyler Fredrick, Spencer Schneider, Martin Hoger, Nathan Hopkins, Danny Zuiker and coach Aaron Frederick.

Guckenberg, Hoger and Zuiker were Rhinelander's representatives on the Northwoods All-Star team.
