t the start of the Northwoods Babe Ruth Senior League season, Rhinelander Black used a rally in its last at-bat to defeat intracity rival Laser Pros International. On Monday, Laser Pros turned the tables.

Laser Pros broke up a no-hitter and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat Rhinelander Black 5-3 at Stafford Field.

Nate Cogar had a no-hitter going through five innings for Rhinelander Black, but Prep League callup Isaac Bixby broke it up with a single to right field. Laser Pros eventually loaded the bases with nobody out. Max Spaulding then hit a sacrifice fly, Walker Hartman hit a go-ahead two-out double and Alex Olson added an RBI single.

Rhinelander Black got the tying run aboard in the top of the seventh, but Martin Hoger struck out Devyn Orth to end the contest.

Prior to Laser Pros' sixth-inning rally, none of the runs in the contest were earned. Abe Laggis scored on an error following Nate Cogar's infield hit for Rhinelander Black in the first.

The Blackshirts nearly tacked on another run in the inning, but Cogar was thrown out at the plate on a well-executed relay following Jesse Mahner's double to right. Mahner reached on an error and scored to give the Blacks a 2-0 lead in the fourth.

Laser Pros got a run back in the bottom half of the inning when Max Spaulding reached on a dropped third strike and scored after Hartman reached on a two-out error.

Orth walked, got to second on a passed ball and scored when Nick Schiek got aboard on a two-out error in the Rhinelander Black sixth.

Hoger got the win in relief for Laser Pros, striking out six over the final three innings. He allowed an unearned run on one hit. Danny Zuiker started for Laser Pros and allowed two unearned runs on four hits with five strikeouts over four innings. Cogar took the loss for Rhinelander Black, reaching the 95-pitch limit after 5 2/3 innings of work. He gave up three hits, walked four and struck out four. Tim Fox got a walk and a strikeout in a third of an inning of relief.

Fox and Kamerin Resch chipped in hits for Rhinelander Black, which outhit Laser Pros 5-3.

Laser Pros (6-5) hosts Merrill Red Thursday night to round out its regular season. Rhinelander Black finishes the regular season 3-9 and will begin the league tournament on Monday.

Merrill Black 3, Laser Pros 2

All the scoring was done early as Laser Pros couldn't overcome Merrill Black or a rain delay in a 3-2 contest Saturday in Merrill.

Laser Pros scored two runs in the first inning, but Merrill Black answered for three in the second. Neither team scored the rest of the way. Laser Pros had the bases loaded with nobody out in the third, but failed to score, and had only one base runner the rest of the way.

There were only four hits for Laser Pros in the contest. A double by Zuiker and singles from Hartman and Jordan Kuczmarski sparked the two-run first. Bixby had the only other hit, a one-out single in the seventh. He got to second on a groundout and was stranded there when another 13-year-old, Ian Miller, struck out to end the game.

Three singles and three walks in the second produced Merrill Black's three runs. Hartman settled in from there, pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing only one more hit the rest of the way. Martin Hoger struck out three in 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Laser Pros 12, Eagle River 4

Laser Pros jumped on Eagle River early and knocked off the Eagles 12-4 in the nightcap of a Senior League doubleheader Friday night at Stafford Field.

Laser Pros scored seven runs in the first two innings, held off an Eagle River run in the bottom of the second, and tacked on runs in every inning except the seventh.

The bottom of the order had some big production for Laser Pros in the win. Kuczmarski and Connor Lund both went 3-for-4 in the contest. Lund's double capped off a big five-run first for Laser Pros, which served as the visiting team in a game that was originally scheduled to be played in Eagle River.

Spaulding, Hartman and Alex Olson each had two hits in the game. Tyler Olson and Seth Stafford also collected hits.

Zuiker pitched scoreless five innings of relief to earn the win. He scattered five hits and struck out five. Hoger started and lasted two innings. He gave up three hits and two walks as part of Eagle River's four-run second.

Lakeland 11, Rhinelander Green 6

A four-run fourth inning proved to be the difference Friday night as Rhinelander Green fell to Lakeland Black 11-6 in a Senior League game at Stafford Field.

The T-Birds broke open a 5-4 game with four in the fourth and tacked on two more in the fifth for good measure. Rhinelander got two back in the sixth, but could not sustain the rally.

Ross Skeen walked and scored for the Green team in the first inning, aided by second from Payton Johnson and Connor Cooper. Harlan Wojtusik and Teagan Guckenberg hit back-to-back triples in the third that helped pull Rhinelander within a run. Alex Kubeny and Jason Huseby both reached in the sixth and came around following singles by Skeen and Johnson.

Johnson, Cooper and Wojtusik each had two-hit nights for the Green team, which collected 10 hits in all. Skeen, Guckenberg, Quinn Lamers and Kubeny had the others.

Huseby, Wojtusik and Skeen pitched in the loss.

Rhinelander Green (4-8) closed out its season Monday night with a 7-0 loss at Merrill Blue and will begin the Senior League tournament next Monday.
