The Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom in Rhinelander played host to the Central Collegiate Ski Association's (CCSA) NCAA Nordic skiing qualifying races Saturday, Feb. 11.

Northern Michigan University swept the top three spots in the men's 10K and women's 5K classic races to win the meet. Adam Martin was the men's champion with a time of 26 minutes, 33.28 seconds while Vivian Hett won the women's race (15:36.21).

The meet featured some local connections, aside from the venue. Pictured at right, Rhinelander High School alum Steve Teclaw, coach of the UW-Green Bay Nordic ski team, addresses his women's squad prior to Saturday's race. Both of Teclaw's teams placed fourth in the competition.

Below right, Nicole Gilman, a Lakeland Union High School grad, leaves the starting line for the women's 5K. The College of St. Scholastica freshman finished 19th.
