Swim Club wins conference title
RSC members set a few conference meet records during the meet. Jack Antonuk, 12, set a new record in the in the boys' 11-12 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:26.46. He also set a new record in the boys' 11-12 100 butterfly with a time of 1:14.30.
Abi Winnicki, 10, broke the record in the girls' 9-10 200 freestyle with her time 2:35.45. She also broke the girls' 9-10 50 backstroke record (38.26) and the 100 back record (1:25.45).
"The RSC swimmers thrived off of the success of winning divisionals and went on to show everyone just how badly they wanted to win at championships," RSC coach Megan Cihla said. "It was wonderful to see these kids show their competitive side and fight for those close races. From our youngest athlete, Claire Abley (5), to our oldest athlete, Grace Heck (16), everyone who competed this past weekend helped contribute points to this championship win!
"It's a great feeling to know that these kids' hard work really paid off. Multiple coaches from other teams congratulated us on our teams' fast swims. The Rhinelander swimming community couldn't be any prouder of these kids."
The top six finishers in each individual event earned medals at the championship meet. RSC members bringing home some hardware include:
