The event, scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 10, draws approximately 500 attendees per year who sample various chocolate-themed items - such as chocolate liqueurs and other alcohol, baked goods and more.
This year, 32 businesses are scheduled to participate, up from an average of 25 to 30. Each business will display the classic heart sign on their door or window to let shoppers know they are part of Taste of Chocolate.
"It really is about a fun night out with friends and family," said Rhonda Jicinsky, event organizer. "Businesses may not see huge retail sales that night, but customers see and find things about your business and come back at a later time."
Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased at participating businesses until 7 p.m. that night. After checking out the stores, the filled out ticket can be dropped off at a participating business, which would enter the person into the big Printpack $1,000 Downtown Bucks drawing. The drawing for the Printpack $1,000 Downtown Bucks will be at 8:15 p.m. at The Brick.
"Events like these help showcase the downtown growth and the need for more growth and community support is critical," Jicinsky said.
Participating businesses include 13 Gifts, Bath and Body Creations, Brown Street 151, Big Daddy's, Book World, Bucketheads Sports Bar, Headwaters Christian Youth/Calvary Baptist Church, CT's Deli, Diane's Frame Shoppe, Dubl Digits, Festive Frog, Forth Floral, Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe, House of Spirits, Imaginuity, Infusions Bar & Venue, Kids Corner Pizza, Kids Impacting our Neighborhood (formerly called Kids In Need), Lattitudes, Mad Batter Bakery, Mel's Trading Post, Northland Music, Pat's Tavern, Rhinelander Brewing Company, Rhinelander Cafe and Pub, Rhinelander Furniture & Mattress, Subway, Susie's Sassy Saloon, Unique Creations, Tricia's Treasures, Trig's Floral and Zion Lutheran Church.
