The award was presented during the convention's banquet, according to a press release announcing the honor.
"Nancy has been a supporter, volunteer and committee member for the past eight years and has stepped up as Fair Coordinator during the last four years in a determined effort to keep the Fair going and growing," the release states. "Nancy has helped build a good working team and stands out as a leader and over and over again demonstrates her commitment and passion to the Fair.Months ahead, year after year, Nancy meets with the community to secure sponsorship and in-kind donations for the fair and makes sure they are personally thanked and recognized in the community. She works closely with vendors, and promotes the fair to the maximum with area newspapers, radio and TV media doing live interviews, spot reporting and coverage of all areas of the Fair. She, along with the Fair committee, seeks to provide as many quality events, entertainment and overall Fair experiences as the Fair budget will permit. As Coordinator, she wears many hats, and when the Fair is about to begin, you know that she has checked the details, making sure everything is lined up and ready to go to ensure the Fair will run as smoothly as it can."
The release also lauds Gehrig's leadership qualities.
"Nancy is a motivator," the release states. "Her upbeat and positive leadership makes her an inspiration to keep the Oneida County Fair growing and be the best it can be for the community. She genuinely supports the mission of the Fair which is to provide all ages with high quality educational and entertaining experiences within a safe and healthy environment in the community."
As 2017 has begun, so has the work begun on the upcoming Oneida County Fair this summer, with dates set for Aug. 3-6 at Rhinelander's Pioneer Park.
