Marshfield Clinic contributes to Lakeland Senior Center rebuilding effort
"Plans are underway for an even bigger and better center for the entire community," Lakeland Retirement Foundation executive director Janell Schroeder said in a press release. "Though the primary focus of the center will be our area's growing population of people ages 55 and up, it will be much more. We will be resurrecting some of the past activities and adding new programs to meet local needs."
The plans outline a gathering place for the community for receptions, reunions and other venues. This center will encompass an indoor walking track, pickleball court, arts and crafts enclave, club meeting rooms, a retail shop, services office, congregate dining, a café and general social areas. The new senior center will require a great deal of community support and fundraising.
"Marshfield Clinic feels this donation aligns with our goal to serve seniors in our communities," said Dr. Bill Melms, regional medical director, Marshfield Clinic. "A great many of our patients benefit from the services offered by the Lakeland Retirement Foundation, so we are happy to contribute to the rebuilding effort."
