Through the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers, businesses and civic organizations, Hodag Park has been transformed into a dazzling display of holiday lights for the preview event of Lights of the Northwoods. The event, which organizers hope will become an annual tradition, had its opening ribbon cutting Thursday night. In addition to the lights in the traffic loop through the park, there are concessions, a bonfire and other activities available in the park. Santa and Mrs. Claus are also making appearances. The event will run through 9 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission fee, but a donation of a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local food pantry is encouraged. Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 19 and 20 to help dismantle the displays.
