Rhinelander swimmers compete at state
Jack Antonuk, 12, finished second in the 50-meter breaststroke (36.10), third in the 200 breaststroke (2:58.84), fourth in both the 100 butterfly (1:10.62) and 100 breaststroke (1:21.54), ninth in the 50 butterfly (32.45), and 10th in the 400 freestyle (5:03.44).
Abi Winnicki, 11, finished 41st in the 50 breaststroke (41.81), 43rd in the 200 IM (2:56.06) and 48th in the 50 butterfly 35.23. Additionally, Winnicki participated in three relays, taking 26th in the 200 freestyle, 29th in the 400 medley, 29th in the 400 freestyle and 33rd in the 200 medley relays.
Makenna Winnicki, 14, finished 20th in the 200 butterfly (2:52.72), 23rd in the 1,500 free (20:26.54), 26th in the free (10:39).03, 41st in the 200 freestyle (2:24.48), 44th in the 100 butterfly (1:12.92) and 70th in the 100 backstroke (1:16.66).
Other results
• Antonuk's finishing times in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly at state were fast enough to qualify him to swim with Team Wisconsin at the 2017 Central Zones meet, which was held last weekend in Pleasant Prairie. Competing against swimmers from other states in the Great Lakes region, Antonuk finished 14th in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.24), 15th in the 100 butterfly (1:10.24) and 16th in the 50 breaststroke (37.91). Additionally, Antonuk was on Team Wisconsin's eighth-place 200 medley and 10th-place 400 medley relay teams.
• Last month, Joseph Heck, 14, was the lone RSC member to compete in the 2017 Silver State Swim meet in Waukesha. He finished second in the 100 breaststroke, third in the 100 backstroke, sixth in the 200 IM and 16th 50 freestyle.
