A local girl recently used an old-fashioned lemonade stand to make money to help pets in need. McKenzie Dix, 5, sold original and watermelon lemonade at her mother's yard sale July 28 and 29. She raised $136 and used it to purchase dog bones and other supplies for the Oneida County Humane Society. "She had so much fun picking out bones etc for them," said Jan Torbenson, McKenzie's grandmother. "McKenzie has wanted to help the animals at the shelter ever since her mom and dad let her adopt her dog Rousy from the shelter." Torbenson is proud of her granddaughter and thought the lemonade stand McKenzie's father made was amazing.
