Nicolet College selects 2016-17 student ambassadors
"Being named a Nicolet Student Ambassador is one of the highest honors the college gives a student," said Nicolet Director of Student Success Christin Van Kauwenberg. "Both of the students selected are very deserving and I'm sure will do a great job representing Nicolet."
Students are first nominated for the honor and then selected for the position after going through an interview process.
Zalewski, a second-year dental hygiene student from Sayner, will serve as the district student ambassador.
"Nicolet is such an incredible college with a great atmosphere," Zalewski said. "You receive all kinds of hands-on experience and the instructors really care that you get a high quality education. I consider it an honor to be able to go out and tell people about all of the great opportunities available to them at Nicolet."
She was nominated by dental hygiene instructor Kelly Moran.
"Helping others is a big part of Sammi's personality," Moran said. "She's always there when needed and consistently faces challenges in a positive manner."
In April, Zalewski joined district student ambassadors from the 15 other colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System for the state Ambassador Conference in Madison.
Gane, a second-year business management student from Tomahawk, will serve as the Nicolet College Foundation Ambassador.
"I've had such a wonderful experience at Nicolet," Gane said. "And the Foundation does such great work. It's exciting to be able to talk with donors and let them know firsthand how scholarships make such a big difference in the lives of students."
In his nomination of Gane, Nicolet Business Management Instructor David Phillips noted her "exceptional leadership skills. She always puts others first and has this outstanding ability to relate to everyone in a very encouraging manner."
Both ambassadors will work to inform individuals first-hand about the many opportunities available at Nicolet College.
