This fun-filled day benefits the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry and the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing. Proceeds raised during the event will be split between the two organizations.
Attendees can get their faces painted, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, traverse a corn maze or pumpkin patch and participate in a corn bin treasure hunt. There will also be pumpkin painting, pumpkin contest judging, balloon art, dance demonstrations and more.
For the hungry, there will be a pig roast, and vendors selling local preserves, honey and more.
Throughout the afternoon there will be a country store, bake sale with silent dessert auctions, and basket raffles.
"All will have suggested pricing donations listed at the event," said Tammy Dye, administrative assistant to NATH executive director Tammy Modic.
There will also be a raffle for Green Bay Packers tickets and an outdoor furniture. These raffle tickets have been available for purchase through the month of September for $5 each. The drawing will take place during Harvest Hoedown.
Admission and most of the activities are free. The wagon ride, kettle corn, pig roast, brats, hamburgers, fries and caramel apples will be for purchase.
There will be additional off-site parking and a shuttle to transport people from the lot, to the event and back.
Last year's event drew a crowd of about 600 to 800 people and raised a net profit of $10,000, so organizers are hoping for at least that much this year.
Dye thinks the biggest draw to the event is "that it is a family friendly event that is affordable and gives one a chance to enjoy a beautiful Wisconsin fall afternoon."
