RAFP requesting additional community support
Pantry seeing record food distribution
In the wake of high food distribution, pantry officials are hoping the community will step up, once again, to help their neighbors in need.
"Ongoing purchase of food for distribution may not be as glamorous, or as obvious a need, but that is the lifeblood of the pantry's mission," the release states. "And unfortunately, despite fund raising and generous donations, RAFP is currently spending more money to purchase food than (it is) taking in. So, with this in mind, RAFP is asking everyone to please consider a donation, or additional contribution, to help ensure the food pantry will be able to continue to provide food for area families in need."
Last year RAFP set yet another record in distributing 596,714 pounds of food during 7,304 household visits, the release states.
Monetary donations can be made to Rhinelander Area Food Pantry c/o BMO Harris Bank, 7 N. Brown St., Rhinelander, WI 54501. Food items may be dropped off at the food pantry at 627 Coon Street from 9 a.m. to noon. Donations will qualify as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
