Merrill man facing child sexual abuse charges in Lincoln County
According to a press release from the Lincoln County sheriff's office, deputies took Scott Anthony Schug into custody Monday at his town of Corning home and he was formally charged Wednesday with three counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, two counts of exposing genitals to child and three counts of child enticement.
"The task force investigation revealed that the man allegedly developed a relationship with the child using social media and that resulted in crimes taking place in both Lincoln and Marathon counties," the release states. "The Marathon County sheriff's office did assist in serving a search warrant at property in the town of Hamburg and is awaiting reports from Lincoln County before forwarding similar charges to their district attorney."
Schug made an initial appearance on Wednesday afternoon in Lincoln County Circuit Court at which time Judge Jay Tlusty set bail at $100,000 cash. According to the sheriff's office, Schug has not posted bail and remains in the county jail.
