Rhinelander Special Olympics sends five to state
Rhinelander Area 2-05 competed in the Special Olympics Region 2 Track and Field meet Saturday, May 14 in Merrill. Athletes competed in the following events: the 25-meter walk, 100 walk, 200 walk, 400 walk, 100 run, 200 run, standing long jump, running long jump, mini-javelin, shot put, and softball throw.

Five Rhinelander Special Olympians qualified for the state competition June 10 and 11 in Stevens Point - Jonathan Ankrom, standing long jump; Aaron Hass, shot put; Pauley Pazonski, 200 run; David Pokrandt, 200 run; and Christopher Buhl, 400 walk and mini-javelin.

The team is coached by Emily Golden, Matthew Nelson and Rod Ankrom.
