Nicolet's Stuckenbruck named to national community college 40 Under 40 honors list
Inductees from across the country first had to be nominated for the honor and then chosen through a selection process. Criteria included the impact each had on their college and community and their potential for future leadership growth.
"Emily has this contagious energy that is very clearly focused on ensuring students receive the highest quality education possible at Nicolet," Vice President of Academic Affairs Ron Skallerud said in a press release announcing the honor. "She's created new academic and skills-training opportunities for students that have helped them advance in their careers while, at the same time, helping provide area businesses with the trained workforce that they need to be successful."
Accomplishments, in part, include securing grant funding to cover tuition for students taking upcoming early childhood education classes in Lac du Flambeau, working in partnership with the Crandon School District to bring Nicolet business classes to Crandon High School, and working with the Potawatomi to offer Nicolet's Professional Communication certificate in the tribal community.
Stuckenbruck also serves on numerous state committees charged with advancing education in the liberal arts, business, early childhood education, global studies, math, administrative assistance, and streamlining the credit transfer process between colleges.
Stuckenbruck joined Nicolet in 2013 as a communications instructor. The following year she was named dean of the University Transfer and Liberal Arts program. In early 2016, she also became dean of Nicolet's Business division.
She earned her bachelor's of arts degree in Communication Studies from Loyola Marymount University, and her master's of arts and doctorate degrees in Communications Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She spent the final year of her doctoral studies at the National University of Ireland- Galway on a Fulbright Fellowship.
