Autumn Maree Shutte, 12, of Antigo has been chosen as a state finalist in the National Miss Wisconsin Pageant to be held Aug. 28 and 29 at the Chulla Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. The pageant is held for girls ages 10 though 12, according to a press release announcing Shutte's involvement.

Shutte's activities include horseback riding, 4H Club, gymnastics, track and field, trombone and fashion design. She also enjoys reading and baking. She is currently co-owner of A & A Sweets and Treats.

Shutte's sponsors include Candy Messer, Nic's Pics and Story Book Farms. She is currently seeking futher sponsorship.

The newly crowed Miss Pre-Teen Wisconsin will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses, and air transporation to compete in the national pageant in Disneyland in California.

She has the chance to represent the great state of Wisconsin for the entire year and tour Hollywood.

Pageants are held for girls ages four to 18 in five different age groups. Contestants will compete in four overall categories including formal wear modeling, personal introduction, interview and community service project. American National Miss also offers optional contests such as the top model search, talent, actress and more.

National American Miss is dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the pageant awards thousands of scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young ladies nationwide. All activities are age-appropriate and family-oriented.

The Nationals American Miss Pageant system is the largest in the nation.

The focus of the organization is to create future leaders and to equip them with real-world skills to makes their dreams reality, the release states. The program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation, and offers an "All-American spirit of fun for family and friends." Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence and learning new skills, such as good attitudes about competition, as well as setting and achieving person goals.
