Green Shades takes first place at Shawano Area Jazz Festival
For the second year in a row, the Green Shades Jazz Ensemble, a group of School District of Rhinelander musicians, took first place in their division at the Shawano Area Jazz Festival, the district announced in a press release. Twenty-two jazz ensembles from around the state worked with world renowned saxophonist Eric Marienthal and guitarist Chuck Loeb. Three Green Shades band members - Faith Bartelt (alto sax), Samantha Smith (piano) and Alex Wagler (guitar) - also received Outstanding Musicianship awards.
