In an effort to continually improve the quality of care in the Northwoods, the volunteers at Ministry Saint Mary's Hospital recently purchased 15 wheelchairs for visitor use. Additional wheelchairs will allow ease to those in need to travel throughout the facility.

Volunteers continue to provide many services on the Ministry Saint Mary's campus and throughout the community. They operate the hospital's gift shop, support the Community Health and Wellness Fair in April, conduct many fundraisers throughout the year including raffles, the annual frozen cookie dough sale and plant sale, books are fun sales and scrub sales to name a few. All profits support the volunteer funds which provide annual scholarships and support community health and wellness programs in the Rhinelander area.

In 2015, volunteers' donations were utilized to purchase fleece blankets for patients of the James Beck Cancer Center including a large blanket warmer, comfortable robes for patient use, IPads for patient use, reliable scales for the congestive heart failure program, a LUCAS chest compression machine for the Emergency Department, and car seats for premature babies to be given to the family. The Volunteers also provided six scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each to area students pursuing a career in a healthcare. On average, the Volunteers at Ministry Saint Mary's Hospital provided 15,000 hours of service.
